Celebration in heaven

This past Sunday the angels in heaven were rejoicing as another Child entered into the family of God. My 7 year old granddaughter asked Jesus into her heart. When my daughter called to tell me J. had something she wanted to say I kind of guessed what it was but waited for J to come to the phone.

She said the worship service was awesome at church that day and the Lord's supper was great and God told her she was ready to take the next step. She prayed with her family and now we are going to be in heaven together. Such an insight for a little girl to have.

So Let's just praise the Lord for another soul saved by the grace of a loving Father.

good news bad news

Last week I had my annual mammogram. I hate this torture so much that I put it off as long as possible. I have never had aproblem with any of the myriad ones I've had done so imagne my surprise when a bright yellow letter arrived telling me that I needed to have a repeat done. Of course the letter came on the weekend so I had to wait until this past Monday to schedule this.

As I am one who does not like to wait for something that could be life changing I call my doctor on Monday and had them schedule me for the dreaded procedure. I was squeezed, twisted and squeezed again. Not just once but twice and in-between sessions I was sat in the hallway while the radioligist looked at the films. All this was done just to tell me that all they saw was folded breast tissue. I wonder if the people will remember me and take the time to position the tissue right the first time and not have to call me back for a second visit next year.

All you ladies who have not had your mammogram do so. It is the way to catch something early and breast cancer is the easiest to cure if you don't let it go by hiding your head in the sand. I am not proud of the fact that I put mine off as long as possible but I do get it done yearly. So that is my good news, bad news for today. Have a great day in the Lord.

The end of one of life's phases

This year has been a roller coaster ride from the beginning to the present. After the Christmas break my grandson M who lives with me decided to not return to school. He was through, not interested, and just being a real hard headed tennager about it until his dad visited the school and found out that if he would buclke down he could graduate. So in all the drama, M did return to finish his senior year. Or should I say attempt to finish the year.

You know, my kids were sometimes rebellious and hard headed but M takes the cake. We were constantly having to remind him to go to bed, get up, get to school, and to make a long story short, just graduate. Did he? No way. He played at school, being late was the norm in his life. Because of this he was told he could get his diploma but not walk in the graduation line.

We thought he was just going to have to work in jobs that were menial because he just did not care, we thought. To our amazement, M. enrolled in the alternative school in our county this year. He can work at his own pace in this school and can complete his missing credits quickly. (He only lacks 1/2 credit in English.) If he finishes the course before the end of the year and he will he will get a letter for him to have to show that he has graduated and then at the end of the year he can walk in the graduation line and receive the coveted piece of paper that shows he did finish. Praise the Lord!

Now if he can really decide to get with the program and be on time every day maybe he can get a job that has a future or maybe He. Will. Dicide. To. Go. On. With. His. Education. Fingers crossed and in constant prayer that he will make the committment to further his education.

Time is passing

I think I need to change the title of my blog because I am not just talking about my grandchildren here. Also they are getting to be big people not just little ones. I have two granddaughters in Florida who are adults. Boy doesn't that make you feel old. *sighs* I love these two girls to the moon and back but I don't get to see them very much.

Then there are my two that live with Mrs. Santa and her hubby way west of here. I get to see them more often but they are wrapped up in their own lives right now. One is in college and the other one will be a senior in high school this year. Boy does that make me feel old!

I also have an eighteen year old who lives with me. *Takes a deep breath* He is a smart boy who doesn't use his head except to keep his ears apart most of the time. Pray for him please. Add me to that list also as sometimes I feel like I am fighting a losing battle with him. He is a good kid but has his priorties messed up right now.

The two youngest little ones are smart, cute and at the stage in life where they can come up with some of the cutest things. Like HG's story of the death of the lightening bug. Very imaginetive. J is going into the second grade and loves school, works hard and has been rewarded for her hard work with being in the 99th percentile in reading and the 98th percentile in math.

My two grown up great grandkids (that I know) are beginning their families. SGGK1 has the cutest littleboy. He was born with a head full of hair and has never lost it. Cute beyond words! SGGK2 has a little girl who will be two in Feburary and is a reigning queen in beauty pagents.

I also have three little great great grandkids in Fl who are growing up to quickly for me. GGK1 is already six, has lost his first tooth, and will be in first grade this year. GGK2 will start kindergarten this year. She is a beauty who looks like her mom and I have only seen pictures of her. Got to see GGK1 twice. GGK3 is just three years old, he came to our Christmas get together two years ago with his mom and his aunt.

So bloggy friends do I need to change the name of my blog? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should call it? I am finding that most of my updates have nothing to do with my family.

Kentucky Changers

This week some delightful young ladies and their adult leaders have been at my home putting up a new deck. These girls are from 12 to 17 or so. They are learning how do do this work and are doing a fantastic job.
Yesterday, they were so busy trying to take out a concrete stoop and the concrete steps that led up to my door. You know, we sing the song On Christ the solid rock I stand. Let me tell you it must have been my steps. The used sledge hammers. No luck on the steps. They got an electric jackhammer. One step removed and a partial removal of the second step. All of this from about 10 A.M. to quitting time at 3;00 P.M.

Today they were told that they would have to get the step removed to allow a post to be put on the corner of the house and they accomplished the task after my brother brought over a drill with a concrete bit and drilled some holes in that second step. The corner post is in place and the frame and joists are up. It has been a wonderful experience to see these young ladies work and lead in the devotionals at lunch.
Today's devotional was taken from James 3:6. Attitudes was the title. The young lady who led the group is just 14 years old. Marvelous insight into how our attitudes need to be positive and our tongues held to the highest standards of speaking positive thoughts. Selling for school

Why can the school not provide enough money for our kiddos to experience things fun activites without it costing us an arm and a leg? My GS sold a product to help with a graduation bash for after graduation at his school. He picked up his product bag and when he got home he discovered that he had not gotten all he the things he had sold. We have been trying to reach the sponsor for 2 1/2 months about this fact. I gave my phone number to the school office and requested that the teacher contact me about this problem. No word, nada, nothing. Common courtesy would suggest that at least I deserved a phone call to discuss the problem. This has been an ongoing mess since the middle of March.

Well yesterday I had to see the assistant principle who works with seniors. He took my name and phone number and I thought just another run around. He promised to check out the problem and see how it should be handled. I told him that it should be either the 4 gift certificates or my 24 dollars. That was the only solution I would accept.

Was I upset? You betcha, I was upset. I don't generally make a ruckus unless I feel like I am right about a problem. Well, about 2:30 0r 3 I got a phone call form the AP and will be receiving a check in the mail for the 24 dollars. Why did I pursue this for such a small amount? It is not easy to live on a fixed income these days. Why did I have to get really mad for them to take care of this problem? I guess they thought I would just go away and let that money be a donation to the seniors. Please teachers extend us the courtesy of at least a call back to address a problem. Don't let it carry on for 10 weeks. Don't talk to the kid who sold a product. I was the complaintent not my GS.

Thank you AP for taking care of this for me. The teacher should have called.

God's accuracy

I did not compose this blog entry but wanted to share this with my blogger friends. I would like to give gredit to the one who wrote it because it is a wonderful explanation of God's plan for us. So to the author: Great Job!!! I hope if you read this you will know that two people have at least passed it on. Read abd enjoy. I did!

God's accuracy may be observed in the hatching of eggs.



For example:

-the eggs of the potato bug hatch in 7 days;
-those of the canary in 14 days;
-those of the barnyard hen in 21 days;
-The eggs of ducks and geese hatch in 28 days;
-those of the mallard in 35 days;
-The eggs of the parrot and the ostrich hatch in 42 days.
(Notice, they are all divisible by seven, the number of days
in a week!)

The lives of each of you may be ordered by the Lord in a beautiful way for
His glory, if you will only entrust Him with your life. If you try to
regulate your own life, it will only be a mess and a failure. Only the One
Who made the brain and the heart can successfully guide them to a profitable
end.

God's wisdom is seen in the making of an elephant... The four legs of this
great beast all bend forward in the same direction. No other quadruped is
so made. God planned that this animal would have a huge body, too large to
live on two legs... For this reason He gave it four fulcrums so that it can
rise from the ground easily.

The horse rises from the ground on its two front legs first. A cow rises
from the ground with its two hind legs first. How wise the Lord is in all
His works of creation!

God's wisdom is revealed in His arrangement of sections and segments, as
well as in the number of grains.

-Each watermelon has an even number of stripes on the rind.
-Each orange has an even number of segments.
-Each ear of corn has an even number of rows.
-Each stalk of wheat has an even number of grains.
-Every bunch of bananas has on its lowest row an even number of bananas, and
each row decreases by one, so that one row has an even number and the next
row an odd number.

-The waves of the sea roll in on shore twenty-six to the minute in all kinds
of weather.

All grains are found in even numbers on the stalks, and the Lord specified
thirty fold, sixty fold, and a hundred fold - all even numbers.

God has caused the flowers to blossom at certain specified times during the
day, so that Linnaeus, the great botanist, once said that if he had a
conservatory containing the right kind of soil, moisture and temperature, he
could tell the time of day or night by the flowers that were open and those
that were closed!

Thus the Lord in His wonderful grace can arrange the life that is entrusted
to His care in such a way that it will carry out His purposes and plans, and
will be fragrant with His presence.

Only the God-planned safe life is successful. Only the life given over to
the care of the Lord is fulfilled.
